Markus Fischer was born in Switzerland where he went to school. He trained as a cabinet maker and still serves his National Service in the Swiss Military Band. After playing the recorder for two years, he started playing the clarinet at the age of 10.
He gained some experience in a local band, and later played in two bands on his year long stay in the french part of Switzerland, after which, he went on to experience a broader variety of music in an ensemble of six clarinets, a classical orchestra and the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Switzerland.
Markus not only plays in the Quartet, but also with the HMS Heron Volunteer Band, is part of the Orchestra for Milborne Port Opera and plays occasionally with the Dorset County Orchestra.
Dave Gassmann started the clarinet at the age of 10 and was taught at the Rural Music School in Blandford. Having accomplished Grade 8, he joined the Band of the Scots Guards in 1986, where he completed an enjoyable 22 years' service as a clarinettist.
During his time in the Band he had a year at Kneller Hall in 1987 for further musical studies and performed, with the Band, in many of the famous music halls, State and Ceremonial occasions in this Country and overseas.
The groups within the band in which he performed were the Concert Band, Orchestra and Clarinet Ensemble.
Having finished in the Army he moved back down to his roots in Dorset, with his family. He is still working in the music business and enjoys teaching the clarinet in his area.
He met his fellow ESP members in 2008 and looks forward to performing at the various functions that lay ahead in the future.
Sarah Corbett plays the Bass Clarinet in the Quartet. The bass clarinet adds texture and depth to the music and is an unusual instrument to say the least! Sarah first started playing the clarinet at the age of 9, and the Piano from the age of 11.
After playing both the clarinet and piano for a number of years, and being a member of a Youth Orchestra in Somerset, Sarah took a break from her music interests to pursue a career outside of music.
She has now returned to her musical roots and is working towards a Diploma in Teaching Music. Sarah not only plays in the Quartet, but also for the HMS Heron Volunteer Band, the Warminster Philharmonic Orchestra, and is part of the Orchestra for Milborne Port Opera.
Marcin Klysewicz was born in Poland. He started his adventure with the clarinet in primary music school.
He played with many different bands including big bands and classical quartets. After many years of playing the clarinet he decided to start composing music - he sold his clarinet and equipped his home with professional studio equipment. He was composing music for musicals, TV and radio jingles and even soundtracks for movies.
Marcin came to the UK three years ago. He bought himself another clarinet and started to look for some local musicians to play with. Soon after he met Sarah, ESP was brought to life.
